The Investment Association (IA) opens its 8th FinTech accelerator

The Investment Association (IA) has officially launched the application phase for the eighth iteration of its esteemed Engine Innovator Programme, a pivotal accelerator designed to spur FinTech advancements within the investment management sphere.

As IA’s dedicated FinTech hub, Engine collaborates with over 150 FinTech firms and partners, driving forward the integration of innovative technologies across the industry.

Among the transformative technologies, artificial intelligence and tokenisation are making significant strides, offering substantial prospects for the evolution of investment management. The Innovator Programme is dedicated to supporting FinTech enterprises that are crafting novel solutions that span the entire investment value chain, from investments and operations to distribution.

Participants of the programme can look forward to bespoke mentoring and invaluable industry exposure, courtesy of the Engine Advisory Panel, which comprises 30 visionary leaders. Additionally, they will gain access to insights from IA policy experts, culminating in a unique showcase at the Global Emergent Technology conference set for March 2025.

In a noteworthy development, Simon Swords, Managing Director of Fundipedia and an alumnus of the Engine Innovator Programme, has been appointed as an advisor on the Engine Advisory Panel. His extensive experience in FinTech will play a crucial role in enhancing processes and fostering engagement, thus offering pivotal insights to asset managers and FinTech firms eager to collaborate.

Concurrently, applications are open for the SPARKS Programme, a distinct initiative aimed at aiding pre-seed stage FinTech firms in refining and advancing their proposed solutions within the investment management industry. The programme is preparing to welcome its fourth cohort this autumn.

Further expanding its global reach, Engine is excited to announce a new partnership with the Uzbekistan Ministry for Digital Technology and an impending collaboration with FinTech Poland, expected to be formalised shortly.

Gillian Painter, Head of Membership and Engine at the Investment Association, commented: “FinTech firms have been a beacon of growth in both the UK domestic market and overseas. At the forefront of innovation in the investment management industry, FinTech is leading the way with technologies including AI and tokenisation, developing better outcomes and choices for investors.

“We are excited to open applications for the next cohort of Engine’s Innovator and SPARKS Programmes, which offer FinTech firms unique mentoring, training opportunities, and industry networking. Our programmes aim to create a positive impact on the industry, as evidenced by the success of past cohorts.”
