Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI), a global insurance provider, has announced the opening of a new office in Milan as part of its European expansion.
As part of this development, the company has appointed Leonardo Castrichino as country manager for Italy, according to Insurance Business Mag.
BHSI, known for offering a wide range of property, casualty, and executive & professional lines products, continues to strengthen its presence across Europe.
The Milan office will serve as a hub for the company’s operations in Italy, offering global multinational program capabilities.
Castrichino, who brings nearly 30 years of experience in the European insurance market, will lead BHSI’s efforts in Italy. Prior to joining BHSI, he held several leadership roles, including his most recent position as chief operating officer for the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region at another global insurer.
In addition to the appointment, BHSI has named other key leaders for its Milan team. Marco Vantellino, with 20 years of experience, joins as head of executive & professional lines. He was previously head of financial lines for the Mediterranean region at another global insurer.
Thomas Tasso, with nearly two decades of underwriting experience, has been appointed head of property – energy and construction.
Lastly, Nicoló Mussi will lead the commercial and financial institutions business for executive & professional lines, focusing on building BHSI’s directors & officers liability and financial institutions business in Italy.
Also joining the Milan team is Chiara Baldissara, who has been named operations manager. Baldissara, who has been with BHSI since 2017, will relocate to Milan for her new role.
BHSI stated that its expansion into Italy and Spain highlights its commitment to growing its European presence by leveraging experienced leadership and providing tailored insurance solutions to meet local market needs.
