Tietoevry Banking, a provider of financial solutions, has entered into a agreement with the paytech innovator Tapster.
This partnership positions Tietoevry Banking to integrate Tapster’s cutting-edge payment solutions into its broad network of European banks. Consequently, millions of Europeans will gain access to innovative contactless payment options.
Tapster, known for its battery-free, NFC-integrated wearables like rings, bracelets, key rings, and watch straps, offers tailored contactless payments for diverse consumer groups. This collaboration allows Tietoevry Banking to expand its offerings, reaching a wider audience across Europe and providing more personalised payment solutions.
The rationale behind this partnership is driven by the desire to enhance the overall use of card payments in Europe. According to recent findings from a MasterCard survey on payment rings, users frequently prefer their payment ring linked cards as their primary payment method, highlighting the influence of wearables on consumer payment habits.
Tietoevry Banking specialises in delivering robust financial services and solutions tailored to the banking sector. With a strong foothold in card services, the company is well-positioned to leverage Tapster’s technology to enrich the payment experience for cardholders.
Tapster, on the other hand, brings innovation to the table with its user-friendly, secure wearable payment technologies. This partnership enables Tapster to tap into Tietoevry Banking’s extensive network, potentially accelerating the adoption of wearable technologies in the financial sector.
The collaboration is set to be fully functional by 2025, providing Tietoevry Banking’s clients across Europe access to Tapster’s novel payment solutions. This strategic move is expected to bolster both companies’ commitments to driving forward user-centric payment innovations in key European markets.
“We are excited to expand our wearable paytech offer by partnering with Tapster, which enables our customers’ cardholders to choose from an even wider choice of ways to make payments. It fits perfectly with our value proposition of providing a future-proof and reliable ecosystem for the financial services sector to enable their customers to benefit from the convenience of modern technology,” Tietoevry Banking Head of Card Personalization Ruth Hessner said.
“This partnership is a milestone for Tapster. Tietoevry Banking’s extensive network of banking partners enables us to reach new markets and help customers move towards a simpler and more connected payment future,” Tapster CEO Tobias Ericsson said.
