Adyen, a global financial technology platform offering solutions for leading businesses, has partnered with Spendesk, a spend management platform designed for medium-sized businesses.

This long-term collaboration aims to support the development and deployment of innovative embedded financial services, according to FF News.

The partnership focuses on advancing embedded finance solutions, enabling Spendesk to accelerate its product launches in 2025.

Meanwhile, Adyen will continue to expand its portfolio of embedded financial products, including business bank accounts and card issuing.

Spendesk specialises in providing finance teams with a comprehensive spend management solution that automates workflows and enhances visibility and control over organisational spending.

Key offerings include virtual and physical cards, expense management tools, and a procurement solution, all of which integrate seamlessly with existing accounting and financial software through APIs and native integrations.

Adyen’s Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) platform, equipped with a full-stack solution across several key markets, was a critical factor in Spendesk’s decision to collaborate.

The firm’s infrastructure simplifies operations by eliminating the need for multi-provider setups. Its UK banking licence allows Spendesk to customise payment experiences for UK clients, maintain compliance, and embed additional financial services beyond payments.

As Spendesk continues to serve SMBs, the partnership will enable them to refine payment workflows, introducing features like enhanced visibility of payment processes, support for digital wallets such as Apple Pay and Google Pay, and streamlined onboarding procedures. These enhancements are designed to improve customer experience while optimising efficiency and reducing payment friction.

Spendesk also benefits from Adyen’s robust regulatory credentials, including banking licences in the UK, EU, and US. This ensures that Spendesk remains compliant as it expands into new regions and safeguards against financial crimes.

Stéphane Dehaies, CEO of Spendesk Financial Services, said, “Trust and accountability are critical in our industry, and to achieve our global ambitions we need a partner who supports our growth with shared values. Adyen’s technology, geographical footprint, and commitment to innovation are helping us reach our goals as we navigate regulatory requirements and shifting customer needs. We chose Adyen because their approach aligns perfectly with our forward-thinking mentality and commitment to delivering best-in-class payment solutions and customer experiences. We share the same cultural DNA and together our fast-paced, transparent, and passionate approach to improving customer experience makes this partnership an incredible fit.”

Hemmo Bosscher, SVP Platforms and Financial Services at Adyen, added, “Helping grow businesses like Spendesk is at the core of what we do. Our customers’ needs drive our product development and it is great to see Spendesk capitalising on our market coverage and single card issuing solution. Looking ahead, we are excited to help Spendesk fully seize the embedded finance opportunity as they scale their operations globally. As market leaders in BaaS and spend management respectively, this partnership drives real innovation for SMBs, a market category whose financial needs are often left unmet by traditional providers.”
