bunch launches in the UK to transform PE and VC operations

In a significant move to harness the potential of Europe’s largest market, German FinTech company bunch has officially launched its operations in the UK.

According to IBS Intelligence, this expansion introduces their advanced operating system designed specifically for private equity (PE) and venture capital (VC) funds, aiming to transform the traditionally complex and opaque fund operations landscape.

bunch’s platform offers an end-to-end solution that allows investors to efficiently manage, administer, and conduct transactions within the private markets. Leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and workflow automation, the system provides a unified ‘System of Record’ that ensures GPs (General Partners) and LPs (Limited Partners) access accurate, real-time information. This innovation is complemented by expert support from fund administration professionals, offering a comprehensive service that spans the entire fund lifecycle.

London, a hub for over 1,500 active PE and VC funds, houses more than half of the total assets under management in European private markets. Recognizing this, bunch plans to significantly expand its UK team and strengthen client relationships to propel commercial growth.

Founded in late 2021, bunch has already established a robust presence in mainland Europe, collaborating with over 40 of the continent’s top funds, including Cherry Ventures, Hummingbird VC, and Motive Partners. Following a successful $15.5m Series A funding round in July, the UK launch marks the beginning of bunch’s aggressive expansion strategy across several new countries.

Tomás Herrmann, general manager, UK, at bunch, emphasized the evolving demands of the private markets, stating, “With demand for private markets booming, legacy systems are no longer fit for purpose. By building a world-class team and comprehensive tech infrastructure to meet the unique needs of this market, bunch empowers GPs and finance leaders to focus on strategy, not admin.”

Echoing this sentiment, Sandra Lyness, partner at Tiny VC, shared her enthusiasm for the partnership, “We believe in bunch’s potential to streamline and simplify the fund administration experience, and we’re excited to be their first client in the UK. We invest in more companies than most other venture funds, so operations are especially critical to our firm. We’ve spoken to many fund ops software products in the market, and bunch is the one that allows us to focus more on our portfolio companies and direct LP relationships.”
