Danske Bank secures management of Dansk Vækstkapital funds

Danske Bank, a prominent financial institution in Denmark, has been entrusted with the management of the Dansk Vækstkapital funds.

This significant development follows an extensive tendering process initiated by the Export and Investment Fund of Denmark (EIFO), according to FF News.

The Dansk Vækstkapital funds, consisting of Dansk Vækstkapital I, II, and III, have been instrumental in supporting Danish startups and growth companies since their inception in 2011.

These funds, backed by a diverse pool of investors including the Danish state and prominent pension providers, focus on providing venture capital to foster entrepreneurship, job creation, and robust returns for investors.

Danske Bank, known for its commitment to supporting growth enterprises through financing, infrastructure, and advisory services, sees this new role as a natural extension of its mission. “Our strategic purpose as a bank is to use the power of finance to release the potential in people and businesses,” said Carsten Egeriis, CEO of Danske Bank. He emphasized the bank’s dedication to enhancing the ecosystem for startups while creating attractive investment opportunities.

The transfer of management is set to occur by the end of the year, following approvals from investors in the funds.

The move aligns the Dansk Vækstkapital funds with Danske Bank Asset Management’s extensive alternative investments platform.

Thomas Otbo, CIO of Danske Bank Asset Management, noted, “With our solid operational setup and a long and strong track record in the area, Dansk Vækstkapital is an excellent match for us.”

EIFO, which emerged from the merger of three state-owned investment entities, had to divest from buyout funds due to EU Commission stipulations.

The bank’s extensive distribution network will play a critical role in future fundraising initiatives, targeting both institutional investors and private wealth clients.

This transition marks a significant step for Danske Bank as it cements its position in Denmark’s entrepreneurship ecosystem and alternative investments landscape.
