Klarna, the AI-powered global payments network and shopping assistant, has expanded its footprint to Canada.
The new product was launched to provide Canadian consumers with fair and flexible payment options when using Apple Pay for online and in-app purchases, according to FF News.
Following successful rollouts in the US and UK, Klarna aims to replicate its positive reception in Canada, enhancing user convenience and accessibility.
This product allows Canadian Apple Pay users to pay for purchases in four interest-free installments or opt for financing on higher-ticket items with competitive APRs.
This integration supports purchases made via iPhone and iPad devices running iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 or later.
This will enhance Klarna’s accessibility, enabling users to select Klarna’s payment options at checkout. Consumers can authenticate purchases using Face ID or Touch ID after Klarna completes its industry-leading underwriting checks. These lending decisions do not impact credit scores, ensuring privacy and flexibility.
In addition, users benefit from Apple Pay’s privacy and security features. Apple does not retain transaction histories, providing an additional layer of consumer protection.
Sebastian Siemiatkowski, Klarna’s co-founder and CEO, said, “I am delighted that we are extending Klarna on Apple Pay to Canada. After the great reception we received from consumers in the US and UK last month, consumers in Canada will now have easier access to our fair, flexible and interest-free payments options when checking out on Apple Pay online and in apps. This is another big step toward our mission to offer consumers Klarna at every checkout.”
