The GRI known for its commitment to enhancing sustainability reporting standards, has announced the appointment of Robin Hodess as its new CEO, effective February 2025.
According to ESG Today, Hodess, who currently serves as the Chief of Strategy and Impact at The B Team—a nonprofit promoting business practices for a sustainable world—will succeed Eelco van der Enden, the outgoing CEO. Cristina Gil White, the interim CEO since September 2024, will continue to lead GRI until Hodess assumes her new role.
GRI is renowned for setting globally accepted standards for sustainability reporting. These standards are vital for enabling organizations worldwide to provide consistent and clear communication about sustainability practices. The initiative aims to drive transparent sustainability reporting across various industries, helping companies align with global sustainability goals.
Robin Hodess brings a wealth of experience in strategy, governance, advocacy, policy, and research to her new role at GRI. Her background includes a significant stint at The B Team, where she led initiatives focused on human-centric and environmentally sustainable business practices. Her predecessors, Eelco van der Enden and interim CEO Cristina Gil White, have set a strong foundation for leadership transition, with White continuing to steer the organization until Hodess officially takes over.
Hodess’ career is distinguished by her roles in fostering international collaborations aimed at improving sustainability and corporate responsibility. Her expertise is expected to be instrumental in advancing GRI’s mission of integrating sustainability into core business practices globally.
Under its ongoing efforts to enhance sustainability reporting, GRI recently introduced proposals for new standards focused on climate change, energy, and biodiversity. These initiatives are part of GRI’s strategy to stay at the forefront of global sustainability practices.
