Cisco targets enhanced digital security with SnapAttack acquisition

Cisco

Cisco, a global leader in networking technology, has revealed plans to acquire SnapAttack, a pioneering threat detection and engineering firm.

SnapAttack is recognised for its advanced threat detection and engineering (TD/E) platform, significantly enhancing digital security solutions.

The acquisition aims to integrate SnapAttack’s innovative TD/E technology, intellectual property, and expertise within Cisco’s Splunk operations. This strategic move is expected to accelerate Splunk’s organic threat detection content and engineering roadmap, particularly at a time when building digital resilience is crucial for organisations worldwide.

SnapAttack offers a comprehensive TD/E management lifecycle solution that empowers security analysts to continuously assess, organise, and optimise their security protocols. This includes streamlining the research, writing, validation, and deployment of threat detections across various technologies.

Furthermore, SnapAttack facilitates a smoother transition for customers moving to Splunk Enterprise Security from other competing solutions. This enables them to adapt, deploy, and validate their existing security content onto Splunk, modernising their Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) with a seamless and straightforward TD/E solution.

The acquisition also represents an opportunity for Cisco to enhance its pool of engineering talent. SnapAttack’s team, led by technically adept leaders with deep domain expertise, will bring additional strength to Cisco and Splunk’s engineering capabilities, ensuring continued innovation and leadership in the digital security space.

Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins said, “This acquisition of SnapAttack will significantly enhance our ability to develop advanced security solutions, ensuring our clients are better equipped to face the digital threats of today and tomorrow.”
