Everest Group, a global leader in property, casualty and specialty insurance and reinsurance, has announced Jim Williamson, formerly the executive vice president and group COO, as its acting CEO.
Effective immediately, Williamson has also joined the company’s board of directors, bringing over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry to his new role.
Since joining Everest in 2020 as group COO, he has led various divisions within the company. In May 2021, he became head of Everest’s reinsurance division, and by March 2024, he was overseeing both the reinsurance and insurance businesses.
His career also includes senior roles at The Hartford, Chubb and ACE, where he managed commercial, specialty and consumer lines of business in the US and internationally.
Everest Group, known for its comprehensive insurance and reinsurance solutions, operates globally to provide best-in-class services in property, casualty and specialty lines.
The company’s decision follows the departure of Juan C. Andrade, who served as president and CEO since 2020. Andrade has stepped down to take up a CEO role at a prominent financial services firm.
Chairman of the board Joseph Taranto expressed his confidence in Williamson’s leadership, stating, “The Board of Directors has great confidence in Jim and is pleased to have appointed him to take the helm at Everest. His appointment is consistent with the Board’s succession planning process, and we believe that his deep experience spanning insurance and reinsurance sectors, functional areas and geography will deliver value for stakeholders and position Everest well for the future. Jim will continue to partner with an experienced and talented group of senior colleagues, including CFO Mark Kociancic, to achieve Everest’s long term strategic goals. In addition, we wish Juan well in his new position.”
Williamson’s extensive background in underwriting, operational leadership and strategic growth initiatives positions him well to lead Everest through its next phase of development.
