Visa, a global leader in digital payments, has partnered with Apple, the renowned tech giant, to bring Apple Pay to Visa cardholders in Egypt.
This collaboration aims to address the growing consumer demand for secure, seamless, and contactless payment solutions, aligning with the shift towards a digital-first lifestyle in Egypt, according to FF News.
Visa operates as a key player in the global financial ecosystem, enabling individuals and businesses to make secure, fast, and reliable transactions through its extensive payments network.
In Egypt, it has been instrumental in driving the adoption of contactless payments.
Apple Pay offers users the ability to make contactless payments by double-clicking the side button on their iPhone or Apple Watch and holding the device near a payment terminal.
Each transaction is secured by Face ID, Touch ID, or a passcode, alongside a unique one-time dynamic security code. Additionally, card details are replaced by an encrypted Device Account Number stored securely on the device’s Secure Element chip, ensuring a high level of security.
Apple Pay is accepted at a wide range of establishments, including grocery stores, restaurants, pharmacies, and taxis, as well as online through apps and websites.
Customers can also set up Apple Pay easily by adding their Visa credit or debit card in the Wallet app on their iPhone.
Malak El Baba, Vice President and Visa’s Country Manager for Egypt, said, “The introduction of Apple Pay in Egypt is a significant milestone in our journey towards bringing payment innovations to even more markets. As consumer preferences continue to evolve, we are committed to providing solutions that are secure, convenient and importantly, align with their digital-first lifestyle. Contactless payments are already trusted and popular in Egypt, and we’re excited to bring Apple Pay to our Visa cardholders.”
Visa cardholders will continue to enjoy the same rewards and benefits as they do with their physical cards when using Apple Pay. This launch underscores Visa’s commitment to expanding digital payments across emerging markets like Egypt.
