DryRun Security bags $8.7m to transform AppSec with intuitive code policies

DryRun

DryRun Security, an AI-native enterprise dedicated to enhancing application security for development and security teams, has raised $8.7m in seed funding.

The investment round saw contributions from lead investors LiveOak Ventures and Work-Bench, with additional support from Cannage Capital.

The company specializes in a novel approach to application security, moving beyond traditional pattern-matching tools to a more intuitive, context-aware system. This method, known as Contextual Security Analysis (CSA), layers static, change, and application contexts to perform security assertions in near real-time, tailored for distributed and modern applications. DryRun Security’s innovative platform is particularly suited to organizations practicing DevOps, as it reduces the pressure on developers from security tools and integrates seamlessly into their workflows.

With the new funding, DryRun Security aims to expand its engineering team and enhance its Go To Market (GTM) functions. The investment will also support the advancement of their Natural Language Code Policies (NLCP), a feature that allows AppSec teams to define security policies in plain, conversational language. This simplifies the creation and maintenance of security policies and enables real-time enforcement and compliance monitoring, thereby reducing vulnerabilities early in the software development lifecycle.

Additional information provided highlights the company’s commitment to integrating its security solutions into developers’ daily routines. This integration helps in pinpointing and managing risks efficiently, ensuring that security evolves in tandem with development processes.

“DryRun Security is a true leap forward in application security, enabling application security teams to identify code risk in a way that previously wasn’t possible,” Creighton Hicks, Partner at LiveOak Ventures, said.
