Paymob, a leading financial services enabler in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), has announced a strategic partnership with Woo, the open-source e-commerce platform.
Through this collaboration, Paymob becomes Woo’s first preferred payments partner in the region, embedding its checkout solution directly into the WooCommerce Marketplace, according to FF News.
The partnership aims to provide merchants with seamless access to Paymob’s suite of digital payment solutions, enhancing e-commerce capabilities for businesses in MENA.
By integrating Paymob’s checkout experience into WooCommerce, the collaboration ensures a more streamlined payment process, improving conversion rates and customer satisfaction.
Paymob offers a range of digital payment solutions, enabling businesses to accept payments via multiple channels, including online gateways, point-of-sale (POS) terminals, and mobile applications.
The company supports over 50 global and local payment methods, including Apple Pay, Google Pay, and regional alternatives. With a presence in multiple markets across MENA, Paymob facilitates digital commerce growth for small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Woo, the company behind WooCommerce, is a leading open-source e-commerce platform that powers millions of online stores globally. It provides merchants with extensive customisation options and an ecosystem of plugins to build and scale their businesses efficiently.
As part of this integration, merchants using WooCommerce will now have access to Paymob’s fully optimised, mobile-friendly checkout solution. The payment gateway supports embedded 3D Secure authentication, PCI compliance, and multi-currency transactions, ensuring a secure and frictionless customer experience. Additionally, merchants can benefit from next-day (T+1) settlements for most transactions and instant settlements in select markets.
In the coming months, Paymob will also be integrated into Woo’s onboarding experience, simplifying store activation for new merchants. This initiative is expected to accelerate the adoption of digital payments and e-commerce among SMEs in the region.
The e-commerce sector in MENA is projected to reach $50bn by 2025, fuelled by increasing smartphone penetration, a young population, and rising demand for digital payments. Despite this growth, many SMEs struggle to access advanced digital tools that can help them scale their businesses efficiently.
Omar El Gammal, EVP of global business development at Paymob, said: “Our partnership with WooCommerce is a major step forward in our mission to enable regional SMEs with transformative digital tools. By embedding Paymob into WooCommerce’s ecosystem, we are creating a future where e-commerce growth is seamless and accessible to all.”
Web Griebel, GM, payments at Woo, commented: “We’re excited about strengthening our partnership with Paymob to offer merchants in MENA a streamlined solution that helps them securely scale their businesses.”
Karl Stjernstrom, VP of global alliances at Paymob, added: “This integration with Woo reflects our focus on forging strategic alliances that drive innovation and unlock new growth opportunities for Paymob merchants in the MENA region and beyond.”
As Woo’s first preferred partner in MENA, Paymob’s direct integration into the WooCommerce Marketplace cements its role as a key enabler of digital commerce in the region. Founded in 2015, Paymob serves 390,000 merchants across MENA, offering a full suite of payment acceptance solutions via its gateway, POS terminals, and mobile app.
