Revolut expands services for Ukrainians and launches charity campaign with Clear Sky card

Revolut, the global financial app with over 50 million customers, has announced an expansion of its services to Ukrainian residents, along with a new international donation campaign.

As part of the initiative, Revolut is offering a special edition Clear Sky card, designed as a symbol of hope for a peaceful Ukraine.

Ukrainian residents can now open a European Revolut account, giving them access to a suite of innovative financial products. This includes instant, fee-free peer-to-peer (P2P) transfers between Revolut customers, as well as foreign exchange and remittance services in more than 30 currencies. The service allows Ukrainians to send and receive money from friends and family abroad without the burden of expensive transfer fees. Additionally, customers can order both virtual and physical debit cards.

To ensure a secure onboarding process for Ukrainian users, Revolut has partnered with Diia, Ukraine’s award-winning e-government platform. This collaboration aims to provide a streamlined and secure way for Ukrainians to access digital banking services. Over 700,000 Ukrainians living in the UK and European Economic Area (EEA) already use Revolut’s services, with over €1bn having been transferred to Ukraine since 2022. The majority of these transfers have originated from Germany, the UK, Ireland, Poland, and the Netherlands.

The special edition Clear Sky VISA debit card, designed by Revolut’s Ukrainian design team, features a transparent blue design reflecting the Ukrainian flag. It serves as a symbolic representation of hope for a clear and safe sky over Ukraine. Customers in the UK, across the EEA, and in Ukraine can order the card, with UK and EEA customers required to make a minimum donation of €/£5 to unlock it. Ukrainian residents can obtain the card without a donation. Revolut has pledged to match customer donations up to £200,000.

All proceeds from the donation campaign will go to Revolut’s charity partner, UK for UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency. The funds will provide crucial assistance to Ukrainians displaced by the war, including emergency cash assistance and shelter repairs. According to UNHCR data, 3.7 million people are currently displaced within Ukraine, while 6.7 million remain abroad as refugees and asylum-seekers in need of humanitarian aid.

Revolut co-founder and CTO Vlad Yatsenko said, “I am immensely proud of Revolut’s continuous support for Ukraine. A record number of Ukrainians have joined our waiting list to be among the first to get their Revolut account. Interest in Revolut and digital banking services is soaring in the CEE region. Starting today Ukrainians can open a Revolut account and access our most popular products, with even more coming soon.”

Dmytro Strelchuk, Revolut’s head of new markets launch, added, “We are delighted that our technology will allow Ukrainians to open European bank accounts. It will facilitate free and instant money transfers across Revolut’s global community of 50 million users and will help to increase the flow of funds into Ukraine for people who want to support their families and relatives at this challenging time.“

Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Revolut has helped raise over £10m for the Red Cross Ukraine appeal, including a £1.5m corporate donation. The company has also partnered with various charities in the UK and EEA to support crisis relief efforts.
