Swedish BNPL giant Klarna has entered the car subscription market through a new agreement with Munich-based start-up FINN.
This partnership allows FINN’s German customers to use Klarna’s flexible payment options, including its “monthly invoice” product, to pay for their car subscriptions, according to FF News.
Customers can also use Klarna’s payment methods to settle their final invoice when returning their vehicles.
The collaboration aims to enhance customer experience by providing flexible and intuitive payment solutions for car subscriptions.
As car subscription models grow in popularity, Klarna’s seamless payment integration ensures that customers can manage their finances effortlessly, improving accessibility and convenience.
Klarna is a leading global FinTech firm known for its innovative payment solutions, offering buy-now-pay-later (BNPL) services, flexible payments, and a seamless checkout experience.
The company serves millions of users worldwide, helping them manage purchases across multiple industries, including retail, travel, and subscriptions.
FINN, founded in Germany in 2021, offers an all-inclusive car subscription service where customers pay a fixed monthly fee covering the car, insurance, maintenance, and roadside assistance.
The company aims to simplify car ownership, providing a hassle-free alternative to traditional leasing or buying. With the car subscription market expected to reach €8.5bn by 2025 and growing at 33% annually to hit €85bn by 2033, FINN is well-positioned for growth.
Klarna’s tokenized payments product is already used by major global merchants such as Uber, Flink, Instacart, Wolt, and Zoom.
It provides a seamless checkout experience, payment flexibility, and features like updating payment dates, changing funding sources, and receiving real-time notifications for expiring cards or failed payments.
Klarna also assumes 100% of the credit risk for subscription-based merchants, increasing signup conversion by 47% and reducing involuntary churn by 31%.
“Tailored payment methods are crucial for high-priced goods,” FINN co-founder & CEO Maximilian Wühr said. “Klarna’s seamless integration ensures flexibility and simplicity for our customers—without disrupting our operations.”
“At Klarna, we are always looking for ways to help our customers save time, money and worry less about their finances. With this agreement, we’re bringing our flexible and intuitive payment solutions into the fast-growing car subscription market, empowering drivers to manage their payments effortlessly in the Klarna app,” Klarna head of Germany Nico Schenck said. “This partnership underscores our commitment to innovation and making modern mobility accessible to more people.”
