Virgin Money, a UK-based retail and commercial bank, has teamed up with Mastercard, a global payments technology company, to offer customers a streamlined financial management experience through open banking.
The collaboration will enable Virgin Money credit card users to view balances and transactions from other banks within the Virgin Money Credit Card App.
The partnership aims to enhance customer convenience by allowing Virgin Money users to manage their finances seamlessly from a single platform. By leveraging Mastercard’s open banking technology, Virgin Money customers will benefit from a smarter and more efficient personal finance solution.
Virgin Money provides a range of banking and financial services to more than 6.6 million retail and business customers across the UK. The bank focuses on digital innovation and customer-centric solutions to enhance financial experiences. Mastercard, a global leader in payments and technology, offers secure and innovative financial solutions, including open banking capabilities that facilitate seamless financial data sharing between institutions.
Through this collaboration, Mastercard’s technology will enable Virgin Money credit card customers to access financial data from their non-Virgin Money accounts within the Virgin Money Credit Card App. This feature is designed to improve financial visibility, helping users manage their money with greater ease and efficiency.
Virgin Money’s integration of open banking technology aligns with its commitment to delivering market-leading digital tools. By leveraging Mastercard’s expertise, the bank aims to enhance its digital offerings and provide customers with more control over their financial information.
Katherine Lovell, head of unsecured lending at Virgin Money, said, “We’re thrilled to collaborate with Mastercard to make it easier for credit card customers to access information about their non-Virgin Money credit cards and current accounts through Virgin Money’s credit card app. Open Banking is an exciting opportunity to make it easier for people to manage their finances and we’re delighted to work with Mastercard to introduce and evolve this feature for over two million credit card customers who interact with us digitally every month.”
Valérie Nowak, EVP, APEMEA Open Banking at Mastercard, said, “We’re proud to provide Virgin Money with open banking solutions that fuel their continued efforts to deliver cutting-edge financial tools. This partnership shows the power of open banking and its ability to create connected, user-friendly, and embedded financial services that make people’s lives easier.”
