Klarna, an AI-powered payments and commerce network, has joined forces with DoorDash, a leading local commerce platform, to provide a wider range of flexible payment options for US consumers.
The integration will allow DoorDash customers to use Klarna’s seamless payment solutions when purchasing groceries, retail products, and even their DashPass Annual Plan via DoorDash’s website and app.
The partnership aims to enhance payment flexibility for DoorDash customers, giving them more control over their spending. With Klarna integrated at checkout, users can choose from multiple payment options, making it easier to align their purchases with their financial preferences.
Klarna is a FinTech company specialising in buy now, pay later (BNPL) solutions, offering customers a seamless and flexible way to make purchases. Its services include Pay in Full, Pay in 4, and Pay Later, catering to different financial needs. Klarna has been rapidly expanding its presence across various sectors, including retail, travel, and now local commerce.
DoorDash is a major player in the local commerce and food delivery space, connecting consumers with restaurants, grocery stores, and retail shops. It has expanded its offerings beyond meal delivery, including groceries, beauty products, electronics, and other essential goods. Its subscription service, DashPass, provides cost-saving benefits for frequent users.
Through this integration, DoorDash customers in the United States will soon have access to Klarna’s flexible payment solutions, allowing them to pay in full at checkout or opt for interest-free installments. Klarna’s Pay in 4 feature enables customers to split their payments into four equal installments, while Pay Later allows users to defer their payments to align with their payday schedules.
The collaboration further cements Klarna’s strategy of expanding into everyday spending categories beyond traditional retail. Customers using DoorDash Marketplace can leverage Klarna’s payment options to purchase a diverse range of products, from groceries and electronics to home improvement supplies and beauty products.
David Sykes, chief commercial officer of Klarna, said: “Our partnership with DoorDash marks an important milestone in Klarna’s expansion into everyday spending categories. By offering smarter, more flexible payment solutions for groceries, takeout, and retail essentials, we’re making convenience even more accessible for millions of Americans.”
Anand Subbarayan, head of money products at DoorDash, said: “As we expand DoorDash’s offerings—from groceries and beauty to electronics and gifts—flexible payment options are essential to meeting our customers’ needs. We’re excited to partner with Klarna to enhance the convenience we offer, including flexible payment options for our DashPass Annual Plan, the most affordable way to order on DoorDash with added streaming and ride benefits at no extra cost.”
