Worldline launches Android SmartPOS in Switzerland

Worldline has unveiled its Android SmartPOS solution for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Switzerland, aiming to transform how businesses manage payments and operations.

The new product leverages Android’s extensive capabilities to go far beyond basic transactions, offering access to business applications directly from the payment terminal.

Built on the Saturn 1000F2 Portable terminal, Android SmartPOS is more than a payment device. It gives businesses the ability to run key business functions via Android apps, streamlining operations and improving customer engagement. This includes access to a range of apps through the SmartPOS store, allowing seamless integration with essential business tools.

At launch, users have access to three proprietary apps developed by Worldline. Mini Cashier acts as a digital cash register, enabling product listing management and shopping basket creation. POS Advertising lets businesses display promotional content while the terminal is idle, enhancing brand visibility. A third app, Smart Engage, is set to follow shortly, providing on-terminal customer feedback surveys post-transaction.

The Android SmartPOS also supports third-party app installation, offering businesses flexibility to tailor their terminal to their unique operational needs. All applications are housed on one device, making it easier to manage and maintain. Additionally, Worldline offers access to a dedicated developer portal to support customisation and innovation.

The benefits extend to Worldline’s partners too. They gain access to the company’s customer base, can fine-tune their pricing strategies, and enter new markets at low cost. Through the SmartPOS API and WPI, partners can quickly deploy apps to the SmartPOS store using a single-click installation mechanism.
