Claira, an AI-powered deal intelligence platform focused on enhancing investment analysis for financial institutions, has raised $7m in a seed funding round.
The round was co-led by Barclays, Citi, and Reimagine Tech Ventures, with additional backing from Activant Capital, KDX, and OPCO Ventures.
Based in the FinTech sector, Claira aims to streamline and modernise how private credit funds and institutions manage and assess investment opportunities. By embedding domain-native AI directly into deal workflows, the platform helps users accelerate due diligence, surface deeper insights, and better leverage historical deal data for future investment decisions.
The funding will be used to scale Claira’s engineering and go-to-market teams, enhance partnerships with top-tier financial institutions, and continue building out its AI infrastructure to meet the specific needs of capital markets.
Claira’s platform addresses long-standing inefficiencies in private markets, where investment teams often depend on manual processes and memory to assess deals. The platform enables financial institutions to systematically capture proprietary research and institutional knowledge, which can be reused to inform future investment decisions.
Claira CEO Eric Chang said, “Firms are sitting on a trove of proprietary research which they are not leveraging. Claira is the first platform to both streamline the work and systematically capture and apply institutional investment knowledge to future transactions.”
Barclays head of US principal investments Kester Keating said, “We’re excited to back Eric and his team as they apply technology to an area of the market which has traditionally seen an over-reliance on manual process and workflow.”
OPCO Ventures founding partner Neil Agarwal added, “Claira fits into existing systems and enables more granular, efficient deal analysis. What excites me most is where they’re heading—by being tied into the nuanced processes of institutional investing, Claira is uniquely positioned to build foundational technology for the next generation of financial infrastructure, enabling agentic AI that cuts through complexity, automates workflows, and ultimately drives better investing.”
