Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE, Singapore Branch, part of global insurance giant Allianz focused on corporate and specialty risks, has partnered with marine underwriting specialist Hydor to strengthen marine insurance offerings across the Asia-Pacific region.
The collaboration is aimed at enhancing risk protection for maritime businesses through a newly launched General Marine Liability (GML) product, according to InsurTech Insights.
This move combines Hydor’s regional insight and technical underwriting capabilities with Allianz Commercial’s financial strength and global reach.
Hydor is known for its expertise in underwriting complex marine risks and delivering bespoke insurance solutions to maritime operators.
Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE serves corporate clients worldwide, offering tailored coverage backed by strong financial capacity and a wide international network.
The jointly developed GML policy offers broad protection across a spectrum of marine liabilities, including cargo loss or damage under care, custody and control; third-party injury and property damage; regulatory fines; and professional errors. It also extends to Marine Property, Machinery, and Business Interruption — bundled into a single policy form with liability and property cover available up to $25m per exposure.
Colin Fordham, a veteran marine insurance expert based in Hydor’s Singapore office, is leading the product launch. With extensive experience in the region, Fordham will spearhead the rollout strategy to ensure the offering aligns with local market demands.
This partnership marks a major step in delivering more comprehensive and regionally relevant insurance solutions to maritime operators in Asia-Pacific.
Hydor CEO Folkert Strengholt said, “Hydor is proud to partner with Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE, a name synonymous with global insurance excellence. This partnership allows us to deliver meaningful, well-rounded protection to maritime businesses by combining our local expertise with Allianz’s international backing.”
