PashaPay, a leading FinTech company in Azerbaijan and a core part of the Bir ecosystem, has formed a strategic partnership with Mastercard, a global leader in digital payment technology.
The primary goal of this alliance is to expand access to innovative digital financial solutions in Azerbaijan, according to FF News.
The companies aim to work together on enhancing cybersecurity, digital identity, fraud prevention technologies, and cross-border payments. The partnership will also involve the issuance of Mastercard and m10-branded digital payment products, as well as broadened access to international money transfer services such as Mastercard’s MoneySend, Cross-Border Send, and Alias Directory.
PashaPay plays a significant role in Azerbaijan’s FinTech ecosystem, focusing on making financial services more accessible, secure, and convenient for users. It is a part of the broader Bir ecosystem, which works to modernise financial infrastructure in the region.
Mastercard, with a long-standing global presence, offers a wide range of digital payment technologies and financial solutions, supporting consumers and businesses in more than 210 countries and territories. The firm continues to invest heavily in cutting-edge technologies for secure and efficient payments.
Beyond digital products, the partnership also aims to extend PashaPay’s international reach, supported by Mastercard’s global infrastructure and cross-border capabilities. The companies will jointly develop financial tools that better serve both individual users and businesses in Azerbaijan’s growing digital economy.
The collaboration is also symbolic of Azerbaijan’s increasing engagement with the global FinTech community, with PashaPay using platforms like Money 20/20 to promote the nation’s innovation credentials and to form long-term strategic partnerships.
PashaPay CEO Samir Mammadov said, “Partnering with Mastercard is an important milestone in PashaPay’s mission to make financial services more accessible and secure. With our partner’s global expertise and strong infrastructure, we can deliver better financial tools to everyday users and businesses, including safe and easy international money transfers. It’s especially remarkable to sign this MoU at Money 20/20 Europe, showing Bir ecosystem’s commitment to putting Azerbaijan’s fintech industry on the global map, joining international dialogue, and building strong, long-term strategic partnerships.”
Mastercard general manager for Türkiye and Azerbaijan Avşar Gürdal said, “This partnership represents the perfect synergy between global expertise and local market knowledge. We’re not just launching another payment product – we’re creating comprehensive financial tools that genuinely meet the needs of Azerbaijani consumers and businesses, helping them thrive in an increasingly digital world.”
