Mastercard and OnePay launch near real-time payroll remittances

Mastercard, a global leader in payment technology and digital financial services, has partnered with OnePay, a UK-based payroll and remittance provider focused on supporting unbanked workers.

This collaboration centres on enhancing cross-border payment access for UK-based temporary and migrant workers, according to FF News.

The partnership aims to simplify and speed up remittance payments by integrating Mastercard Move into OnePay’s existing payroll offering. This integration enables users to send money abroad with near real-time processing, increased transparency, and clear cost visibility — addressing the dual need for domestic wage management and international support.

Mastercard Move is a cross-border transfer platform that offers senders real-time payment tracking, upfront fee disclosures, and accurate delivery timelines. The system’s integration into the OnePay infrastructure allows workers to send money from their OnePay digital account and have it arrive quickly in dozens of international markets. This empowers workers to support family members back home more efficiently and with greater confidence.

OnePay, for its part, provides a Mastercard prepaid card and digital account designed for workers without access to mainstream banking. There are no credit checks involved, and accounts can be opened swiftly, offering features such as a multilingual mobile app and online portal. These tools enable users to manage funds, track spending, and handle financial tasks in their native languages.

This financial ecosystem is particularly valuable for seasonal and migrant workers who often face challenges with financial inclusion. By combining Mastercard’s cross-border capabilities with OnePay’s inclusive payroll services, the initiative supports both the safe receipt of wages and efficient remittance delivery.

Since the start of their collaboration, Mastercard and OnePay have helped over 800,000 workers by partnering with more than 550 employers and labour providers across various sectors. Combined, they have processed over £4bn in transactions, including £1.4bn in ATM withdrawals.

The launch of Mastercard OnePay Remittances reinforces Mastercard’s commitment to developing inclusive and trusted global payment systems. It also represents a significant stride in addressing the real-world needs of underserved worker populations.

Mastercard SVP fintech, government & digital partnerships, UKI Darren Deal said,
“Every year, remittances serve as a vital source of income for millions of families worldwide. By embedding Mastercard Move into OnePay’s account and card solution, people have a faster, safer, and more transparent way to send money home. This is yet another example of the role that innovative fintechs can play in enabling financial inclusion across the UK.”

OnePay CEO Lee Hartley said, “At OnePay we have always focused on removing the barriers that many workers face when accessing and managing their money. By integrating Mastercard Move into our solution we are not only making it faster and easier for our customers to support their families back home, we are giving them greater control and peace of mind. This collaboration is a natural step forward in our mission to create fairer and more inclusive financial services for those who need them most.”
