EVN AG has selected Tietoevry Create as its strategic partner to lead a major digital transformation initiative focused on advanced data and AI technologies.
The Austrian-based energy provider is working with Tietoevry to modernise its reporting infrastructure and data architecture. A key milestone in this collaboration is the launch of a company-wide Data Lakehouse built on Microsoft Azure.
Tietoevry’s solution includes integration of Internet of Things (IoT) capabilities, the development of a Data Mesh architecture, and a comprehensive data governance model. This modern setup aims to future-proof EVN’s complex data landscape and support the group’s ambitions for digital scalability and real-time insights.
The two companies have previously collaborated through EVN Naturkraft, EVN AG’s renewable energy subsidiary. Tietoevry’s earlier work involved harnessing data from wind and solar power assets, enabling standardised reporting and AI-powered analytics. With the ability to process over 80,000 data points per second, the system also incorporated real-time monitoring and a secure central IoT gateway.
EVN AG, which operates in six countries including Austria, Bulgaria, and Germany, serves nearly 3.6 million customers across electricity, gas, heat, and water.
Tietoevry Create, part of the Tietoevry group, offers data-driven design and digital engineering solutions across multiple industries, including energy, telecom, healthcare, and financial services. With a team of 9,000 IT professionals worldwide, the firm supports businesses in deploying cloud-native, AI-integrated solutions to drive operational efficiency and innovation at scale.
