Worldline, a leading global provider of payment services, has launched its new AI-powered routing solution designed to revolutionise how businesses route payments on a global scale.
The company introduced the innovation in response to the increasing demand from businesses for smarter, more efficient payment processing. With online transactions growing in volume and complexity, there is a need for a system that can intelligently maximise authorisation success while minimising costs.
Worldline, listed on Euronext under the symbol WLN, is known for its comprehensive payment solutions that support businesses across various industries. Its offerings span omnichannel transaction processing, digital banking, and merchant acquiring, serving a global client base.
The new AI-powered routing system analyses transaction data in real time, selecting the optimal acquirer to improve authorisation rates. Building on its existing rules-based routing—which already improved authorisations by 3%—the AI enhancement delivered an additional 2% uplift during pilot phases. This intelligent routing is helping merchants unlock millions in added revenue, with one customer reporting a €1.63m increase.
This dual-layered system integrates both rule-based and AI-driven mechanisms. The rules-based routing ensures consistency by selecting acquirers with lower interchange fees, while the AI component enhances flexibility and responsiveness, making real-time decisions based on live data patterns.
Key features include omnichannel compatibility, enabling usage across online and in-store touchpoints; global scalability with multi-currency and multi-acquirer support; and AI-powered optimisation that boosts conversion rates, particularly for global e-commerce platforms.
Currently deployed by leading global e-commerce merchants, the AI-based routing solution will soon be expanded to other Worldline platforms. It further solidifies Worldline’s position as a pioneer in intelligent payment technologies and reinforces its commitment to innovation in transaction management.
