Ecommpay, a global payments platform, has joined forces with climate-focused technology company ekko to integrate real-time sustainability tools directly into its Hosted Payment Page.
The partnership reflects a broader shift in consumer expectations, as research conducted by Ecommpay and IMRG shows that over 70% of shoppers are more inclined to buy from retailers committed to sustainability.
With this integration, e-commerce businesses can now offer customers the ability to track and offset their carbon footprint—seamlessly and without disrupting the checkout experience.
The research highlights changing consumer behaviour, with 59.5% of respondents stating they actively choose eco-conscious retailers, and another 15.8% preferring those that support environmental charities.
ekko provides users with clear, real-time visibility into the environmental impact of their purchases. After a transaction is completed, customers can see how their spending translates into measurable action on critical environmental causes, from marine conservation to reforestation. The platform also gives them the option to offset their impact by contributing to certified climate initiatives.
Ecommpay chief marketing officer Miranda McLean said, “There is a clear shift in consumer attitudes to sustainability to which e-commerce businesses and FinTechs want to respond. Shoppers want the brands they buy from to act responsibly. However, most merchants lack the tools to integrate climate action without adding complexity or friction.
“By embedding ekko into our Hosted Payment Page, we are giving merchants the ability to offer a post-purchase sustainability feature that customers can access without the need for clicks or redirects. Supporting a wide range of climate initiatives, we believe this is a major step in scaling accessible, impactful climate action through e-commerce. A small action by consumers can have a big ripple effect for the environment.”
ekko CEO and co-founder Oli Cook said, “Our mission is to make climate action part of the everyday, and payments are one of the most powerful moments to do that. This partnership with Ecommpay brings sustainability to the checkout in a way that’s intuitive, measurable, and scalable. It’s a huge step forward for the future of responsible commerce.”
Ecommpay’s Hosted Payment Page already allows merchants to optimise conversion by dynamically adapting the display of payment methods to user behaviour, geography, and transaction type. The solution also includes features such as Payouts via Hosted Payment Page, supporting seamless disbursements to payment cards as well as Apple Pay and Google Pay, even when the recipient’s details are unknown.
The new ekko functionality will be available to all merchants using Ecommpay’s Hosted Payment Page from August 2025, requiring no additional SDKs or complex development—only a simple configuration.
