Datos Insights, a global provider of data and advisory services for financial services and insurance, has announced the acquisition of InsTech, a London-based advisory firm and innovation community for the insurance sector.
The move brings together two influential players in the insurance innovation landscape and marks a strategic step toward deeper integration of emerging technologies and data analytics in the global insurance ecosystem, according to FF News.
The acquisition, expected to close in August 2025, will enable Datos to strengthen its position in the critical London Market, which plays a pivotal role in international insurance and supports many US carriers.
Meanwhile, InsTech will gain access to Datos’ analytical expertise and expanded reach, particularly in the US. Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
Datos Insights is widely recognised for its practitioner-driven insights, extensive research capabilities, and strategic advisory services. Its client base includes major insurance and financial services firms, and its focus on data-driven solutions has made it a trusted partner for technology adoption and regulatory strategy.
InsTech, headquartered in London, has built a strong reputation as a hub for practical insurance innovation. It connects senior insurance leaders—including risk officers, underwriters, and COOs—with the latest developments in risk methodologies, parametric insurance, and emerging technologies.
The acquisition merges complementary expertise. Datos brings deep ties with insurance CIOs and technical know-how, while InsTech offers a dynamic community and forward-looking thinking on coverage innovation.
The combination is positioned to benefit decision makers across the insurance value chain.
The companies have confirmed that InsTech will maintain its brand and community-led operating model in the near term, ensuring continuity for existing clients. Both sides plan to explore deeper collaboration opportunities moving forward.
The acquisition comes as Datos builds on significant growth momentum. The firm has posted five straight quarters of top-line growth, expanded its research operations in India, and recently launched its Distinguished Fellows programme to deepen industry engagement.
The organisations believe their combined strengths will help clients navigate a fast-evolving insurance environment marked by digital transformation, regulatory shifts, and novel risks.
Kavitha Venkita, CEO of Datos Insights, said, “InsTech has built an exceptional reputation as the trusted voice for practical insurance innovation, and their expertise in emerging risk methodologies and coverage forms complements our technology-focused advisory approach. This acquisition creates opportunities to connect our deep relationships with insurance CIOs with InsTech’s broader network of risk, underwriting, and operations leaders as we explore future collaboration possibilities.”
Robin Merttens, executive chairman and co-founder of InsTech, said, “Becoming part of the Datos group is a natural next step for InsTech. We have been looking for a partner that can help us expand the range of services we provide to our community and bolster our capabilities in the US, and this deal delivers both. We look forward to introducing our community to our new partners and exploring the new opportunities to make them successful.”
Matthew Grant, CEO of InsTech, said, “This partnership creates exciting opportunities to explore how our expertise in emerging risk methodologies and parametric insurance can work alongside Datos’ deep technology insights. We look forward to maintaining our independent approach while exploring how our combined capabilities might better serve insurance executives navigating an increasingly complex landscape.”
Wayne Mincey, executive chair of Datos Insights, said, “Our robust M&A pipeline reflects the strong market demand for combining deep industry expertise with sophisticated data analytics. InsTech’s proven track record of building trusted relationships with insurance leaders, combined with our analytical capabilities, creates a powerful platform for helping clients make high-stakes decisions with confidence.”
With the insurance industry increasingly reliant on innovative coverage models and complex data analytics, the partnership between Datos Insights and InsTech is set to enhance their ability to deliver next-generation solutions to stakeholders around the world.
