RTA rolls out Lloyd’s-backed insurance solution

Reliable Transportation Association, a managing general agent and Lloyd’s of London coverholder, has launched a new Physical Damage insurance programme aimed at commercial auto operators across six U.S. states.

Reliable Transportation Association, a managing general agent and Lloyd’s of London coverholder, has launched a new Physical Damage insurance programme aimed at commercial auto operators across six U.S. states.

The new offering addresses a growing need for more responsive, digitally enabled insurance products within the transportation sector, according to FF News.

As commercial operators face rising costs and operational risks, the programme is designed to offer faster coverage with fewer administrative burdens.

Founded as the managing underwriter and distribution partner for STAR Mutual RRG, RTA focuses on supporting commercial auto operators with streamlined insurance solutions. The company works closely with a nationwide network of agents to reduce friction and improve transparency in the sector.

The newly launched Physical Damage programme provides comprehensive protection against physical losses including collisions, rollovers, theft, vandalism, fire, and weather-related incidents. It is underwritten by Lloyd’s of London and is now available in Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Jersey, California, Illinois, and Texas. Further expansion is expected in states like Georgia and Florida later in the year.

Exclusively accessible through agents appointed with STAR Mutual RRG, the programme is supported by RTA’s digital platform, which enables near-instant quoting and eligibility decisions. This hybrid distribution approach balances automation with underwriter oversight and allows for same-day quoting and policy binding. Additionally, the model eliminates premium financing costs, simplifying the administrative process for both agents and policyholders.

The coverage is tailored to reward safety-conscious operators. Insureds with clean Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs), favourable loss histories, and stable operations benefit from fair and transparent pricing tied directly to their safety data and experience.

The new offering aligns with STAR Mutual RRG’s commercial auto liability appetite, with slight adjustments to accommodate physical damage risks. Agents already contracted with STAR Mutual can begin selling the product immediately without additional onboarding. Competitive commissions are also on offer to drive agent engagement.

“This program reflects our continued investment in smarter products, streamlined workflows, and stronger partnerships,” said the Reliable Transportation Association. “By combining the security and financial strength of Lloyd’s with our instant quoting and eligibility platform, we’re equipping agents with a truly modern tool to protect what matters most to their clients – their vehicles, their uptime, and their livelihoods.”
