Vitality, one of the UK’s largest health and life insurers, has deployed WSO2’s API management platform to modernise legacy systems and accelerate digital transformation across its operations.
The implementation forms part of Vitality’s strategy to improve customer experiences and expand market share in a fast-moving digital marketplace.
Its previous systems lacked scalability and flexibility, preventing agile product development and slowing partner onboarding.
By adopting WSO2’s open-source API Manager and integration tools, Vitality has created a modular architecture that decouples core services from front-end applications.
The new platform simplifies integration across internal and external systems, reducing partner onboarding times from six months to just a few weeks.
The approach supports regulatory compliance in the health insurance sector while centralising service management to streamline oversight and ensure security. Customers benefit from faster access to services, simplified onboarding processes, and more personalised digital journeys across multiple channels.
Vitality has also reduced operational complexity, allowing for faster deployment of new digital offerings and enabling real-time responses to business demands.
Kris Tokarzewski, CTIO of Vitality UK, said, “WSO2 has become a key enabler of our digital strategy. Their technology has allowed us to scale innovation across our business, ensuring we remain a leader in preventive health and wellness services.”
