Zum Rails launches Mastercard prepaid cards in Canada

Zum Rails has introduced a new range of Mastercard-powered prepaid card programmes in Canada, aiming to transform the way businesses manage payments.

The service is not currently available in British Columbia, it said.

The all-in-one instant payments and embedded finance provider said the launch will enable companies to streamline expense management, deliver faster wage access, offer real-time disbursements, and create branded consumer rewards programmes. The solution promises businesses greater speed, control, and flexibility across financial operations.

Zum Rails CEO and co-founder Miles Schwartz said, “At Zum Rails, we believe money should move at the speed of business, and we’re making it easier for businesses to embed smarter, faster payments into their operations.

“With our Mastercard powered prepaid card programs, companies could now offer branded, reloadable prepaid cards that move money in near real time without the complexity of traditional infrastructure.”

The collaboration brings Mastercard’s global network to Canadian businesses, providing secure, scalable payment solutions across more than 200 countries.

Companies will be able to deliver co-branded, reloadable prepaid cards for corporate expenses, ensuring clarity in financial tracking and separating business and personal spending. The cards will support near-instant disbursements, enabling businesses to pay contractors or employees quickly, a feature expected to boost satisfaction and financial flexibility.

Balinder Ahluwalia, senior vice president & group head, market development & digital partnerships, Mastercard, Canada, said, “Mastercard is proud to support Zum Rails in delivering modern, embedded payment solutions that meet the evolving needs of Canadian businesses. Together with Zum Rails, we’re helping companies unlock new ways to move money and serve their customers.”
