Interactive Brokers unveils Connections tool

Interactive Brokers (IBKR) has launched a new tool called Connections, designed to help investors uncover trading opportunities and better understand market relationships.

Built directly into the IBKR platform, Connections brings together a wide range of data sources, allowing users to explore related stocks, ETFs, options, economic indicators, and other instruments from one central location.

The company highlighted that its platform offers access to one of the industry’s broadest selections of global products, spanning stocks, options, futures, bonds, Forecast Contracts, and more across 160 markets. Connections leverages this extensive data coverage to reveal links between assets that might otherwise be missed, enabling investors to identify potential opportunities across asset classes and geographies.

Interactive Brokers CEO Milan Galik said, “Clients of Interactive Brokers can access stocks, options, futures, currencies, bonds, funds, and more across 160 global markets from a single integrated platform.

“That breadth is the result of decades of work expanding our product offering and geographic reach, and it’s what makes Connections possible. By bringing all of this together, Connections helps our clients uncover opportunities that other platforms simply cannot match.”

The feature provides data on peer companies, market themes, Forecast Contracts tied to economic indicators like interest rates and housing starts, ETFs, options, futures, bonds, and trading strategies. This integrated approach gives investors a complete toolkit to discover new ideas, manage risks, and diversify portfolios.

For instance, someone researching a major technology company can use Connections to identify lesser-known competitors in cloud storage or explore the wider Cloud Computing theme. Similarly, investors in homebuilding companies can analyse economic indicators or options strategies to protect against housing market volatility. Connections can also surface insights into emerging themes like Carbon Capture, linking related ETFs, revenue streams, and macroeconomic factors.

With this tool, investors can analyse instruments and strategies in one view, explore related companies and themes, compare performance across sectors, and identify ways to hedge or diversify exposure.

Interactive Brokers said this launch complements its existing suite of discovery tools, including valuation comparisons, sentiment analysis, bond screening, and securities lending insights, offering users a comprehensive approach to global investment discovery.
