Western Union, a global leader in cross-border and cross-currency money movement, has partnered with WhatsApp to provide a new customer service channel in Peru.
The collaboration aims to make it easier and faster for customers in Peru to carry out financial transactions, including sending money to over 200 countries and territories and buying or selling US dollars, directly from their mobile phones.
With this partnership, Western Union customers in Peru can now send a message to the designated WhatsApp Business number, state the transaction they want to complete, and fill in a short form.
If the customer meets Western Union’s requirements, the service is processed in just minutes. For a limited time, users can also send money without paying fees to several Latin American countries, including Colombia, Chile, Mexico, and Venezuela.
The initiative reflects Western Union’s strategy to meet customer expectations by offering simple, secure, and convenient services.
By integrating WhatsApp Business, the company is expanding the digital channels available to its users while keeping personal assistance accessible through direct chat with representatives.
“This proposal expands the range of solutions for our customers in Peru,” said Rafael De la Puente, country director of Peru at Western Union. “We noticed that many users were already communicating with us through WhatsApp, and we wanted to go a step further, offering them the possibility of managing their operations directly from there,” he added.
Western Union emphasised that the promotion of fee-free transfers is subject to change without prior notice.
Currently, customers can send money without commission costs to multiple destinations across Latin America, in either soles or dollars, depending on the receiving country.
