Zain Cash and Mastercard partner to boost digital payments in Jordan

Zain Cash, a FinTech firm providing mobile wallet and digital payment services in Jordan, has announced a collaboration with Mastercard, a global payments technology company, to strengthen digital payments and develop its card portfolio in the Kingdom.

The partnership aims to accelerate the adoption of digital payments in Jordan, enhance Zain Cash’s prepaid and credit card portfolio, and expand solutions for SMEs, according to FF News.

In addition, Mastercard will support Zain Cash in establishing its Innovation Hub in Jordan, where both firms will co-create advanced payment solutions and services.

Zain Cash delivers financial transaction services including money transfers, bill payments, mobile wallet top-ups and digital payments.

Since its launch in 2011, it has become one of the leading players in Jordan’s prepaid market, and Mastercard’s top cross-border issuer in the country. In 2023, Zain Cash launched Mastercard World, Platinum and Standard cards, positioning its parent company Zain as the first telco in the region to issue credit cards.

Mastercard, operating in more than 210 countries, provides payment processing services and develops technology to enable secure, seamless and innovative transactions worldwide. The company continues to invest in digital transformation and financial inclusion initiatives, working with financial institutions, governments and FinTechs globally.

Through this collaboration, Zain Cash will expand its presence in digital-first, multi-currency, SME and ecommerce spaces. Mastercard’s involvement will ensure that advanced technology and platforms are deployed to build a scalable, secure and inclusive digital payments ecosystem in Jordan.
