EC-Council invests $20m in FireCompass to scale Agentic AI

FireCompass has secured more than $20m in funding from EC-Council, the global cybersecurity training body best known for creating the Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) credential.

The investment forms part of EC-Council’s $100m Cybersecurity Innovation Commitment, a programme aimed at accelerating the next wave of cybersecurity technologies. With the backing, FireCompass is expected to expand its reach and further develop its Agentic AI-based platform.

The company provides a unified security solution that integrates multiple capabilities, including attack surface management, continuous threat exposure management, network and application penetration testing, red teaming, and penetration testing as a service. Recognised by analyst firms such as Gartner, Forrester, and GigaOm, FireCompass uses patented Agentic AI to replicate real-world adversaries at machine scale, detecting risks with near-zero false positives.

The new funding will be used to advance FireCompass’s technology, expand its global footprint, and embed its capabilities into EC-Council’s wider ecosystem. As part of the collaboration, EC-Council will mobilise its partner network, alumni base, and enterprise research to accelerate product development and ensure enterprises gain access to the platform’s adversarial simulation tools.

The urgency behind such innovation is underscored by projections that cybercrime will exceed $10.5tn annually in 2025, according to the White House’s AI Action Plan. Attackers are already harnessing artificial intelligence to outpace human defenders, creating demand for equally advanced automated defences.

EC-Council group president Jay Bavisi said, “With this investment, EC-Council is not only contributing significant capital but will also invest in growth opportunities, research collaborations, and provide access to our vast global ecosystem. This is about building the future of cybersecurity by combining the power of AI technology with the scale of the world’s most trusted cybersecurity education platform.”

FireCompass co-founder and CEO Bikash Barai said, “The AI race in cybersecurity isn’t coming; it’s here. Attackers are already using AI to move faster than human defenders can respond. Our AI-driven platform thinks and acts like a real attacker chaining vulnerabilities, moving laterally, and validating risks continuously at machine scale. It outpaces humans by orders of magnitude. This investment from EC-Council not only accelerates our innovation but also connects us to the strength of their global ecosystem, an incredible boost as we scale worldwide.”

The company has already uncovered more than 2.5m real attack paths and vulnerabilities for its clients, cutting remediation times by 40% on average. It is trusted by Fortune 500 firms, defence agencies, and managed security service providers across 40 countries, with customers in finance, healthcare, telecom, and government.

International security technologist and Harvard lecturer Bruce Schneier, an advisor to FireCompass, said “FireCompass is tackling one of cybersecurity’s most significant challenges by helping defenders match the speed and persistence of attackers in an ever-evolving landscape. Their AI-powered approach to automating multi-stage attacks and penetration testing is a game-changer. In particular, Agentic AI provides a promising solution to an otherwise unsolved problem.”

The partnership will also bolster EC-Council Global Services by integrating FireCompass’s AI into services such as automated penetration testing, red teaming, and continuous threat exposure management, delivering intelligence and simulation capabilities to organisations facing sophisticated attacks.
