Worldline and YeePay unite to power cross-border payments

Worldline and YeePay, a leading Chinese third-party payment provider, have entered into a strategic partnership to enhance cross-border payment solutions for the aviation and travel industries.

The partnership aims to combine Worldline’s extensive global acquiring network and its leadership in European aviation payments with YeePay’s strong presence in China’s travel payment ecosystem, according to FF News.

Together, the two companies will deliver a one-stop payment solution designed to simplify transactions for international airlines operating in China and Chinese carriers expanding into international markets.

Worldline, recognised for its expertise in global payments and its Global Collect platform, will provide international reach, settlement capabilities, and regulatory compliance support. YeePay, meanwhile, brings its local market knowledge and technical expertise in facilitating payments for the Chinese travel and airline sectors.

With YeePay now integrated into Worldline’s acquiring network, airlines and travel businesses can expect streamlined payment processes, faster settlements, and compliance with both Chinese and European regulations. The collaboration also enhances operational efficiency, reduces transaction costs, and improves customer payment experiences across multiple channels.

For travellers, the partnership means greater payment flexibility, enabling the use of local card schemes, international credit cards, and digital wallets. This seamless payment experience is expected to reduce friction during transactions and foster growth in cross-border air travel.

The timing of the collaboration aligns with a resurgence in Chinese cross-border tourism, which has already recovered to 80% of pre-pandemic levels. Increased visa-free entry policies and new international routes are accelerating travel demand. The joint solution is therefore positioned to support both Chinese carriers seeking international expansion and global airlines aiming to penetrate the Chinese market.

According to Worldline vice president of travel & hospitality Biljana Bosnjak, “This partnership with YeePay marks an important step in strengthening our footprint in one of the fastest-growing aviation and travel markets in the world. By combining our global network with YeePay’s unrivalled local expertise, we are creating a new benchmark for cross-border payments that benefits airlines, merchants, and travellers alike.”

YeePay co-founder Yu Chen added, “Joining forces with Worldline allows us to extend our capabilities and support both Chinese and international carriers with faster, safer, and more efficient transactions. Together, we are building solutions that will not only serve the aviation sector but also address future needs across hotels, OTAs, and wider travel industries.”

This partnership signifies a milestone in the evolution of cross-border travel payments in China. Both companies intend to continue exploring new opportunities across the broader travel ecosystem, expanding beyond aviation into related industries such as hospitality and online travel agencies.
