LevelBlue expands MDR and XDR strength with Cybereason buy

Cybereason

LevelBlue has announced a definitive agreement to acquire Cybereason, a leading cybersecurity firm recognised for its advanced XDR platform, threat intelligence expertise, and digital forensics capabilities.

The deal aims to strengthen LevelBlue’s managed detection and response (MDR) services and expand its global leadership in cybersecurity.

The acquisition will combine LevelBlue’s AI-driven MDR offerings with Cybereason’s world-class XDR and incident response technologies. While the value of the deal has not been disclosed, the move marks a significant milestone in LevelBlue’s strategy to build the industry’s most comprehensive cybersecurity platform, enhancing threat detection, accelerating response times, and expanding global reach for clients.

LevelBlue specialises in AI-powered cybersecurity services, offering managed detection and response, threat intelligence, and incident response solutions to clients across the globe. The company has become known for its unified, platform-led approach that helps organisations reduce operational complexity while strengthening resilience. Cybereason, meanwhile, is a cybersecurity pioneer that provides advanced XDR, digital forensics and incident response (DFIR), and offensive security capabilities. Its expertise in endpoint protection and threat intelligence has made it a trusted partner to enterprises worldwide.

As part of the transaction, SoftBank Corp., SoftBank Vision Fund 2, and Liberty Strategic Capital will become investors in LevelBlue, underlining strong confidence in the company’s long-term vision. The deal also sees former U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven T. Mnuchin, now managing partner of Liberty Strategic Capital, join LevelBlue’s board of directors. Mnuchin’s addition brings decades of experience spanning finance, policy, and strategic investment.

Steven Mnuchin said, “Cybersecurity is now inseparable from economic security and national resilience. LevelBlue has rapidly established itself as a leader in integrated managed security services, and I look forward to helping guide its growth at a time when organizations worldwide are seeking trusted partners who understand the complexity of today’s threat landscape. I also want to thank Manish Narula, CEO of Cybereason, for his strong leadership in driving this outcome and propelling Cybereason into its next chapter of growth and innovation.”

The acquisition further enhances LevelBlue’s ability to deliver measurable, outcome-driven cybersecurity results. It aligns with the company’s recent purchases of Trustwave and Stroz Friedberg, creating a powerhouse of integrated cybersecurity solutions. Through Cybereason’s strong presence in Japan, LevelBlue also expands its international footprint, providing enhanced delivery capabilities across regions.

LevelBlue CEO and chairman Bob McCullen said, “The addition of Cybereason is a strategic leap forward in our mission to become the most complete cybersecurity partner for our clients and strategic partners. By combining Cybereason’s world-class XDR and DFIR capabilities with our AI-powered MDR and incident response, we can deliver unified protection that’s proactive, scalable, and purpose-built for today’s fast-evolving threats.”

Cybereason CEO Manish Narula added, “Joining LevelBlue marks an exciting new chapter for Cybereason. This acquisition strengthens our collective capabilities across XDR, MDR, offensive security, DFIR, and cybersecurity consulting services, enabling us to unlock additional value for our clients and their counsel and cyber insurance partners globally.”

LevelBlue’s acquisition of Cybereason brings immediate benefits to clients, including enhanced endpoint protection, expanded DFIR capacity, smarter threat intelligence through integration with SpiderLabs, and seamless compatibility across major technology ecosystems. The move reinforces LevelBlue’s ambition to transition the industry from reactive defence to proactive resilience.

LevelBlue board member and AT&T Business senior vice president Shawn Hakl said, “Cybereason’s strength in XDR and digital forensics is a fantastic added capability that enables us to better serve our customers with deeper threat visibility, faster response, and greater confidence in the face of evolving cyber threats.”

LevelBlue continues to redefine cybersecurity partnerships by combining AI technology, elite expertise, and a global perspective to deliver measurable outcomes and lasting resilience for businesses worldwide.
