The launch of the upgraded Concierge comes as part of Expensify’s mission to streamline business expense management through artificial intelligence.

The company aims to eliminate friction in everyday financial operations by offering an intuitive and conversational way to manage expenses.

Expensify provides a unified solution that integrates expense reporting, company cards, reimbursements, invoicing, and travel management. It serves individuals and enterprises alike, helping them reduce administrative workload and increase financial transparency.

The upgraded Concierge has evolved into a full-service expense agent that combines AI technology with round-the-clock human support. The system enables users to manage their expenses through chat, email, and text. It offers seamless interaction by understanding natural language commands, allowing users to create, edit, and delete expenses conversationally.

Concierge now lives across the Expensify app, meaning members can access support within their expenses and reports. It auto-corrects ambiguous or incomplete entries, flags potentially suspicious or AI-generated receipts, and adapts based on user behaviour over time. By learning from each interaction, Concierge delivers increasingly personalised support.

Expensify’s approach differs from fully autonomous AI solutions. Instead, the company focuses on creating a partnership between human expertise and machine intelligence to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Expensify founder and CEO David Barrett said, “Everybody’s got an AI agent these days. But not all agents are equal. Most agents are new AI-washing of old rules engines. Some agents are disconnected Clippy-style chat bubbles slapped atop a traditional GUI. But Expensify’s Concierge agent is ‘contextual’ in that it allows you to chat within the context of an individual expense or expense report. It’s the difference between ‘Tag my Starbucks expense on Nov 4 as Coffee’ and ‘Tag this expense as coffee.’ Context is what puts the ‘super’ in ‘superintelligence,’ and because AI is the new UI, we believe that Expensify’s chat-everywhere design makes it into the first truly AI-everywhere design.”
