SAFE–Balbix deal forms next-gen AI cyber risk platform

SAFE

SAFE, a leading provider of autonomous cyber risk quantification and management, has acquired Balbix, an exposure management platform known for its AI-driven approach to continuous threat assessment.

The deal brings together two recognised players in the cyber risk and exposure management sectors.

SAFE completed the acquisition to create a unified, AI-native cyber risk and exposure management platform that links operational vulnerabilities directly to business impact. The announcement did not disclose the financial value of the deal.

SAFE positions itself as a pioneer in cyber risk quantification, offering tools that translate complex cybersecurity gaps into measurable business risk. Its platform uses agentic AI models to power continuous decision-making across cyber, AI and third-party risk environments. SAFE is also known for giving CISOs real-time insights through tools such as its SAFE X Mobile App, helping organisations track and reduce risk over time.

Balbix, recently named a Visionary in the 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Exposure Assessment Platforms, has built a reputation for AI-native exposure discovery and exploitability assessment. Its technology provides deep contextual intelligence, helping companies understand vulnerabilities across vast, fragmented datasets. Balbix’s platform is widely used for its ability to map vulnerabilities, assess risk pathways and offer automated validation.

The companies stated that the combined platform will allow enterprises to continuously measure, prioritise and remediate cyber risks using a single, real-time source of truth. The integration closes a long-standing gap between security operations and risk management teams, which traditionally operate with different models and fragmented datasets.

By joining forces, SAFE and Balbix aim to accelerate progress toward autonomous cyber risk management, with the companies stating that the acquisition moves the sector closer to “Cyber AGI”, where AI can independently manage risk across an organisation.

The companies believe the merger marks a significant turning point for CISOs, enabling them to transition from operational cybersecurity leaders to enterprise-wide risk leaders. SAFE said the unified platform will allow organisations to trace every vulnerability and misconfiguration from exposure to business impact, providing a fully connected view of risk.

Customers of both firms will now be able to unify security operations and cyber risk teams using one model and platform. Industry analysts have labelled this combination as the first time exposure management and cyber risk quantification have been fully integrated into a continuous, autonomous system.

Balbix CEO Gaurav Banga, who will join SAFE as president of CTEM, said, “Balbix has always helped customers understand what’s exploitable. With SAFE, we take that capability to an entirely new level. Together, we can tie every exposure to business impact and drive immediate, decisive action. This isn’t incremental – we’re delivering the unified cyber risk platform the industry has been waiting for.”

SAFE CEO Saket Modi said, “This is a gamechanger for the cybersecurity industry. Our goal from day one has been clear: build CyberAGI – the definitive system of intelligence and action for the modern CISO. We started with risk; Balbix started with exposure. Two companies chasing the same summit from opposite sides. This acquisition brings those missions together and propels us into the future of security operations and cyber risk management, in one unified Agentic-AI platform.”

JC2 Ventures CEO John Chambers said, “I’ve backed both Balbix and SAFE for years, and I’ve seen firsthand how exceptional Gaurav and Saket are. Gaurav brings deep technical mastery; Saket brings a bold vision and unmatched execution. Together, they can redefine how cybersecurity risk is managed – from the tactical to the strategic. This combination has all the makings of an industry-shaping moment.”

Molina Healthcare senior director of cyber risk Chris Hornfeldt said, “Balbix gave us the flexibility to pull in data from any source and make sense of it instantly – even when it was messy or unstructured. SAFE adds the quantification layer that turns that intelligence into real business insight. We’ve been waiting for this level of integration. Together, they are building exactly what every CISO needs.”
