AI security platform Lumia secures $18m seed round

AI security company Lumia, which develops agentic AI governance tools to support safe enterprise adoption of AI, has secured fresh backing to fuel its expansion.

The firm has raised $18m in a seed round led by Team8, alongside participation from New Era. As part of the announcement, Admiral Michael Rogers, former Director of the National Security Agency and Commander of US Cyber Command, has joined Lumia’s advisory board.

Lumia specialises in the growing area of AI safety, building a platform aimed at helping large organisations oversee the rapid introduction of autonomous agents into their daily operations.

The funding will be used to accelerate engineering and research activity, advance integrations with major AI ecosystems, and deepen enterprise infrastructure partnerships. It will also help support go-to-market efforts with early customers in sectors such as financial services, technology, and other data-sensitive industries.

Growing demand for agentic AI is cited as a key driver. Gartner predicts that task-specific AI agents will be embedded within 40% of enterprise applications over the next year, compared with less than 5% in 2025. These systems are already drafting legal contracts, analysing confidential datasets, scheduling meetings and taking automated actions, a shift that raises governance and safety questions.

Lumia claims its platform tackles this challenge by understanding the intent, content, context, and action behind each AI interaction. It monitors usage across thousands of applications, enforces dynamic policies, and delivers enterprise-level visibility over what AI agents are doing, under which permissions, and across which systems.

Admiral Michael Rogers, former Director of the NSA and new advisory board member at Lumia, said, “Autonomous AI is accelerating faster than most organisations are prepared for. Enterprises need early visibility, clear guardrails, and a framework for accountability before these systems become embedded in every workflow.”

Lumia was co-founded by Omri Iluz, former co-founder and CEO of PerimeterX, and Bobi Gilburd, previously CTO at Unit 8200. Lumia CEO Omri Iluz said, “The pressure on CISOs is huge – they cannot afford to be the ones pulling back the business on the greatest productivity boost in this century. However, AI introduces risks that the business just cannot afford. Lumia allows enterprises to adopt AI securely and responsibly. Allowing broad usage while putting seamless controls in place”.
