LexisNexis IDVerse update targets deepfake identity fraud

LexisNexis Risk Solutions has launched an enhanced version of its LexisNexis IDVerse platform, introducing next-generation document authentication and biometric verification designed to combat deepfake and synthetic identity fraud.

The new version of IDVerse has been developed in response to the rapid growth in generative AI-enabled fraud, which is making it easier for criminals to create fake identities, manipulate documents and attempt account takeovers. As fraud techniques become more sophisticated, organisations are under increasing pressure to improve verification accuracy without slowing down onboarding or introducing unnecessary friction for genuine users.

LexisNexis Risk Solutions provides technology and data-driven insights that help organisations manage risk, prevent fraud and comply with regulatory requirements. Its solutions are widely used across FinTech, RegTech, payments, insurance and digital commerce to support secure customer onboarding, identity verification and ongoing fraud monitoring throughout the customer lifecycle.

The enhanced IDVerse platform combines document authentication and biometric verification in a single solution, enabling organisations to verify identities more securely while delivering a faster and more accessible user experience. The upgrade is designed to reduce reliance on disconnected tools for device analysis, behavioural monitoring and identity checks, helping firms close procedural gaps that can increase costs, complexity and fraud exposure.

Among the new capabilities are a conceal mode, which removes the user’s image from the screen during selfie capture to encourage more natural behaviour, and expressionless authentication, which uses advanced depth perception models to remove the need for users to smile. This approach improves accuracy and makes the verification process more inclusive for individuals with disabilities. The platform also introduces document liveness through video-based ID document capture, preventing the injection of AI-generated or manipulated images.

In addition, the updated IDVerse significantly improves speed and efficiency. Average capture times have been reduced from around 12 seconds to near-instant results, while the overall verification journey has been simplified from six steps to three, supporting smoother onboarding without compromising security.

These enhancements aim to address a growing industry challenge, as many organisations continue to struggle with fragmented identity and fraud tools that increase friction for customers while still leaving gaps for fraudsters to exploit.

LexisNexis Risk Solutions global head of fraud and identity Kimberly Sutherland said, “Fraudsters innovate with speed and precision. Organizations can have both strong defenses and a seamless customer experience. This enhanced version of IDVerse delivers both. It enables efficient onboarding, sharper fraud detection and renewed trust at every stage of the customer lifecycle. We integrate innovative deepfake defenses and a more intuitive user experience, so organizations gain stronger protection without adding barriers for legitimate users.”
