SimCorp and MSCI expand data collaboration for private markets

SimCorp, a global leader in financial technology, has announced an expansion of its data collaboration with MSCI, enabling buy-side firms using its SimCorp One platform to gain direct access to MSCI’s private market data services and datasets.

The expanded collaboration will allow SimCorp One users to access MSCI’s managed data collection service and its private capital datasets directly within SimCorp’s investment management platform.

Through the partnership, SimCorp clients will benefit from streamlined access to fund-, asset- and deal-level datasets within SimCorp’s award-winning platform. Private market investments are often characterised by fragmented data, inconsistent reporting and a lack of standardised disclosures. The collaboration aims to address these challenges by providing aggregated, high-quality datasets that are easier to access and integrate into existing workflows.

SimCorp and MSCI first partnered in 2022, when MSCI’s private investment benchmark data was made available to SimCorp clients. Building on that foundation, the expanded collaboration now gives SimCorp One users access to MSCI’s Private Asset Transparency Data, offering detailed insight into private capital investment holdings. Clients will also gain access to MSCI’s managed service for automated document collection and data management, including transaction data, enabling greater automation across fund financial documentation workflows.

Both offerings are underpinned by MSCI’s private capital datasets and benchmarks, covering nearly 28,000 funds and funds-of-funds across all private asset classes. These datasets include historical holdings, performance data and cash flow profiles, reinforcing SimCorp’s focus on simplifying data access and supporting improved client outcomes.

SimCorp head of SimCorp Alternatives Hugues Chabanis said, “Despite the rise of AI technology, many clients are still searching for turnkey solutions that remove complexity from private market operations.

“In their perpetual quest for efficiency, this continued collaboration with MSCI delivers exactly that, acting as an extension of their operations teams to handle everything from document processing to capital calls and reporting.  This enables our clients to focus on what truly matters for their customers: evaluating the best investment opportunities and driving portfolio performance.”

MSCI head of private assets Luke Flemmer commented: “MSCI is committed to bringing greater transparency, efficiency, and data accessibility to the private assets investment process. By embedding MSCI data, indexes, and analytics into SimCorp One, we are equipping investors with powerful tools to better manage complexity, address regulatory demands, and drive better outcomes.”
