dLocal partners with HONOR to launch local payments in Peru

dLocal, a cross-border payment platform focused on emerging markets, has partnered with HONOR, a global AI device ecosystem company, to support the launch of HONOR’s first local eCommerce website in Peru with fully localised payment options.

The partnership is designed to support HONOR’s expansion in Peru by enabling acceptance of local payment methods that reflect how consumers in the market prefer to pay online. Through the collaboration, HONOR can offer Peruvian shoppers access to cards, bank transfers, eWallets and cash-based solutions, reducing friction typically associated with international purchases.

Through a single API integration, dLocal enables HONOR to accept payments from Peruvian consumers using a wide range of domestic methods. Customers can pay with credit cards that offer instalment options, a common feature in Peru, as well as debit cards, bank transfers, and eWallets such as Yape. The integration also supports local solutions including Pago Efectivo, helping HONOR replicate the experience consumers expect from local retailers.

Peru’s eCommerce sector is experiencing rapid growth and is currently the fastest-growing in Latin America, dLocal explained. Online sales are forecast to reach $59.5bn by 2027, creating significant opportunities for international brands entering the market. However, only around 26% of online transactions in Peru are completed using international credit cards.

A major driver of this trend is the popularity of local eWallets, particularly Yape, which has more than 16.5m active users, representing nearly half of Peru’s population.

dLocal connects global enterprise merchants with consumers across emerging markets in APAC, the Middle East, Latin America and Africa. Its “One dLocal” model allows merchants to accept payments, send payouts and settle funds globally through a single platform, API and contract, without the need to manage multiple local entities or integrations.

dLocal head of China Justin Goh said, “HONOR’s products set a high bar for innovation, and their payment experience should reflect the same standard.

“By processing transactions through domestic rails and supporting key local methods like Yape and Pago Efectivo, we’re helping them connect directly with consumers and build a strong foundation for sustainable growth in Peru.”
