CyberNut raises funding to expand AI security for K-12

CyberNut

CyberNut, the AI-enabled cybersecurity training platform focused on K-12 schools, has secured a strategic minority growth investment as it looks to expand its footprint across the education sector.

The company, which provides human-centred cyber risk management tools tailored for school environments, said the backing marks an important step in strengthening its mission to help districts defend against increasingly sophisticated digital threats.

The investment was led by Growth Street Partners, marking a significant endorsement of CyberNut’s technology and growing market presence. While the amount raised was not disclosed, the firm confirmed that the new capital will accelerate product development and expand its go-to-market strategy as demand rises among public and private K-12 districts nationwide.

CyberNut has built a platform that blends AI-driven automation, phishing simulations and prevention workflows, alongside gamified micro-training that is designed specifically for teachers, staff and students. By focusing on human behaviour—still one of the most exploited vulnerabilities in cyberattacks—the platform helps users recognise, report and respond to emerging threats, including phishing attempts, deepfake scams and compliance-related risks.

The company plans to use the new investment to advance innovation across its platform and support IT teams within districts that are seeking alternatives to enterprise-grade security awareness tools not originally built for education. This includes scaling training for both staff and students and enhancing capabilities that address the rising volume of social engineering attacks targeting schools.

CyberNut has seen rapid adoption in recent years, with more than 400,000 faculty members and 1.4m students now using the platform across a growing base of public and private districts. Customers include Dallas Independent School District, Fulton County School District, Fayette County Public Schools, East Baton Rouge Parish Public Schools and Niles Township High School District 219.

Niles Township High School District 219 director of technology Phil Hintz said, “Cybersecurity threats targeting school districts continue to grow in both volume and sophistication, and the human element remains one of the biggest risk factors. After renewing our CyberNut platform for a second year and expanding our deployment to include student training, we’re excited to roll out phishing simulations and security awareness education to our student population, alongside our faculty population. CyberNut was clearly designed with K-12 realities in mind and has become a critical component of how we strengthen our overall security posture across the district.”

CyberNut CEO and co-founder Oliver Page said, “Phishing and social engineering attacks remain one of the most persistent and costly cybersecurity risks facing K-12 districts, yet most solutions were designed for corporate environments. With Growth Street’s support, we will accelerate innovation, expand our reach to more districts, and continue equipping district IT teams with tools purpose-built to create safer digital environments for faculty, staff, and students.”
