SMBC Americas and Fenergo have announced a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing digital onboarding and client experience across the region.
The partnership has been formed to support SMBC Americas’ multi-year transformation strategy, with a particular focus on modernising core capabilities, reducing manual processes, and simplifying its technology infrastructure. By implementing Fenergo’s onboarding and lifecycle management solution, the bank aims to improve efficiency, reduce friction in client engagement, and deliver a more seamless experience for both clients and investors.
SMBC Americas provides a broad range of banking services across North America, including corporate banking, investment banking, capital markets, and asset management solutions. The institution serves a global client base and plays a key role in supporting multinational corporations operating across the US and international markets.
Fenergo develops regulatory technology solutions designed to help financial institutions manage the entire client lifecycle, from initial onboarding through to ongoing compliance and client management. Its platform focuses on automating regulatory processes, improving data reuse, and enabling institutions to meet complex compliance requirements such as KYC and AML obligations.
The rollout of Fenergo’s platform is expected to deliver global connectivity and provide SMBC clients with faster and more transparent onboarding processes. The solution will standardise workflows across internal entities, allowing verified client data to be reused and reducing duplication across compliance functions.
The technology supports SMBC’s broader strategic vision of offering industry-leading digital solutions throughout the onboarding lifecycle and beyond. By automating traditionally manual workflows, the bank expects to drive operational efficiency while enhancing the client and investor experience. The solution is also designed to improve compliance processes by strengthening AML controls and improving the management of regulatory obligations at scale.
