FIS brings cloud-native risk management to AWS

FIS

FIS, a global financial technology company and capital markets software provider, has launched its Enterprise Risk Suite on Amazon Web Services (AWS), ending the long-standing trade-off between staying operationally current and maintaining business continuity.

The new deployment moves enterprise risk management onto a cloud-native infrastructure hosted on AWS, allowing financial institutions to remain on the most up-to-date version of the software at all times — without the operational disruption that has historically accompanied major software upgrades.

Central to the offering is a continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) model, through which FIS assumes responsibility for managing upgrades on behalf of its clients. This removes the need for institutions to divert internal resources away from risk management towards infrastructure maintenance. The platform is built on a microservice-based, cloud-native architecture that allows clients to scale their risk infrastructure in a linear fashion and sustain performance even at higher calculation volumes. A burst computing capability also allows firms to draw on additional processing power for peak workloads or large-scale calculations, without the overhead of maintaining on-premise hardware.

FIS provides technology solutions across the financial services industry, with its capital markets division offering software for risk management, trading, and regulatory compliance. The Enterprise Risk Suite covers both market and credit risk, and the company has been recognised as a Category Leader across all quadrants in the Chartis Credit Risk Management Systems report.

The AWS launch follows that recognition, and represents a shift away from legacy upgrade cycles that have long posed challenges for firms operating in real-time, highly regulated environments. The platform’s architecture enables clients to scale cloud-based risk infrastructure dynamically, supporting more computationally intensive workloads without the constraints of traditional on-premise deployments.

FIS Capital Markets president Andrés Choussy said, “The move to a cloud-native architecture on AWS showcases our commitment to unlock financial technology across the money lifecycle, and removes the trade-off between staying current and staying operational. Our clients can now run the latest, most powerful version of Enterprise Risk Suite at all times, while scaling their risk infrastructure dynamically to meet whatever the market demands. This modern framework combined with comprehensive risk coverage enables smarter, faster and more capital-efficient risk management decisions that drive revenue growth.”

Amazon Web Services head of financial services market development John Kain said, “Financial institutions need risk management infrastructure that keeps pace with market volatility without sacrificing operational continuity. By deploying Enterprise Risk Suite on AWS, FIS is delivering exactly that — a cloud-native platform that gives clients continuous access to the latest capabilities, elastic compute power for peak workloads, and the scalability to grow without the burden of legacy upgrade cycles. We’re proud to support FIS in transforming how the insurance industry manages risk.”
