Aviva has named Ortec Finance, a global specialist in investment decision-making technology, as its technology partner in a move designed to bring personalised financial guidance and advice to a far wider pool of its customers.
Under the agreement, Aviva will deploy OPAL, Ortec Finance’s wealth management platform, alongside the CORD integration and orchestration system from Yellowtail Conclusion. Together, the technologies will underpin a digital guidance and advice journey, backed by human advisers, spanning the full continuum from simple guidance through to regulated advice.
The deal is framed as a significant push by Aviva to tackle the advice gap and lift the financial wellbeing and retirement prospects of more UK adults. Financial advice has historically been concentrated among wealthier clients, but OPAL enables Aviva’s planners to extend their service to a much broader customer base.
Embedding sophisticated modelling within the advice process is intended to sharpen decision-making at pivotal life stages, particularly retirement, and the tie-up cements both firms’ standing as long-term infrastructure providers to advice-led institutions across the UK and Ireland.
The timing is notable. The UK’s Targeted Support regime took effect on 6 April 2026, permitting authorised firms to present ready-made suggestions to groups of consumers with shared characteristics and needs, rather than assessing each person individually. The regime sits between generic guidance and fully personalised advice, and aims to reach the millions currently excluded from traditional advice.
Ortec Finance’s technology provides the modelling, governance and audit trail firms require to deliver consistent, evidence-based suggestions at scale, and the Aviva agreement adds another anchor client to its UK roster of banks, wealth managers, pension providers and insurers.
Ortec Finance builds investment decision-making technology. Its OPAL software applies institutional-grade forecasting and optimisation so that advisers, wealth managers and banks can track client portfolios through dynamic updates reflecting market conditions.
Yellowtail Conclusion, a technology and implementation partner to banks, insurers and pension providers, pairs financial domain knowledge with an open platform that orchestrates planning logic, calculations, market integrations and regulatory requirements into trusted digital advice.
Ortec Finance head of wealth management UK & Ireland Mark Glover said, “The UK market is entering a new phase, shaped by targeted support and a growing expectation that advice can be delivered at scale. Aviva is taking a leading role in that transition. We are proud to provide an end-to-end solution that enables advice to remain consistent, transparent and evidence based as it reaches a much broader population.”
Aviva director of consumer wealth Riaan de Bruyn said, “Closing the advice gap is one of the most important challenges our industry faces, and as the largest pension provider in the UK, it is imperative that Aviva helps our customers achieve the financial and retirement outcomes they deserve.
“At Aviva, we’re clear that personalised guidance is critical to drive engagement at scale and the Targeted Support regime will further enable us to address the advice gap with clear suggestions for customers to engage with their pensions and take their next steps with confidence.
“But we believe that financial advice remains the gold standard for more complex needs and that advisers play a vital role in giving our customers the confidence to make these important life decisions.
“Our partnership with Ortec Finance reflects our ambition to serve this customer need across the guidance and advice continuum. Their expertise in financial modelling and planning technology will allow us to deliver robust and valuable support and advice at scale.”
Ortec Finance managing director global wealth solutions Tessa Kuijl added, “This partnership reflects the kind of long-term commitment we are making in the UK market. By combining Aviva’s advice expertise with our institutional-grade modelling, we are enabling a new standard of financial planning, one that extends high-quality advice beyond traditional segments without diluting its rigour or suitability.”
