Aperture Investors, an alternative asset manager that forms part of Generali Investments, has led a $300m asset-based financing facility with FinTech firm Avant.
The facility is intended to hand Avant adaptable capital to fuel expansion across its platform, and the deal also builds on an established relationship between the lender and Aperture’s Asset-Based Finance (ABF) team.
Aperture’s ABF strategy, which debuted in 2025, aims to deliver bespoke and flexible funding to prominent consumer and commercial finance businesses. Headed by Nick Turgeon, global head of asset-based finance and portfolio manager, the strategy draws on rigorous underwriting and specialist asset-level knowledge to source, structure and oversee compelling investments.
Avant, founded in 2012, runs a data-driven, multi-product platform giving middle-income US consumers access to credit cards and personal loans. Its branded credit card, which is issued by WebBank, launched in 2017, and the platform has since reached over 4.5 million unique customers, supplying more than $13.7bn in personal loans and upwards of 3.1 million credit cards.
Taking loans and cards together, Avant has connected its customers to more than $16.8bn in credit overall. The company applies data and machine learning across a product suite that also features a personal financial management tool.
Aperture Investors was established in partnership with Generali Group, a global insurance and asset management business, and invests worldwide across credit and equity asset classes, pairing an entrepreneurial investment culture with institutional-grade infrastructure. As of 30 June 2026, it oversaw roughly $6.72bn in assets under management.
Aperture Investors global head of asset-based finance and portfolio manager Nick Turgeon said, “We’re pleased to partner with Avant to support its continued growth. Our ABF strategy is focused on working with high-quality partners that combine dynamic underwriting models with proven operating capabilities, and Avant exemplifies those qualities. We look forward to continuing to seek attractive investment opportunities for our clients.”
Avant CEO Al Goldstein said, “At Avant, we’ve spent more than a decade building a data-driven platform designed to expand access to responsible credit for middle-income Americans. Partnering with Aperture on this facility aligns with that mission: it gives us flexible funding to grow our credit card portfolio while maintaining the discipline and risk management our customers and capital partners expect. We’re excited to deepen the relationship as we scale the platform to serve more people.”
