AutoRek buys Grath to expand governed AI controls

AutoRek, a provider of financial controls and reconciliation automation software, has acquired London-based AI reconciliation specialist Grath to expand its AI capabilities and offer financial institutions a governed approach to automation across reconciliation and compliance.

The acquisition adds Grath’s AI technology portfolio to AutoRek’s existing financial controls platform, including access to Topa, the API-enabled AI infrastructure Grath launched earlier this year. Topa enables financial services firms to embed AI-powered matching, machine learning models trained on financial services data and agentic reasoning for exception handling directly into their own systems, giving organisations the option to build proprietary reconciliation capabilities while maintaining governance and oversight.

Following the acquisition, AutoRek will provide customers with three deployment options under a single financial controls framework. Its enterprise private cloud platform, combined with the AutoRek Intelligent Agent (ARIA), is designed for organisations processing high transaction volumes across complex data environments and operating under strict regulatory requirements. Grath’s multi-tenant SaaS platform will continue to support fast-growing firms seeking FCA-aligned governance without building their own infrastructure, now supported by AutoRek’s global delivery capabilities. Topa completes the offering by providing reusable AI matching services and governed agentic reasoning for institutions developing their own AI-powered financial operations.

AutoRek CEO Chris Livesey said, “Customers want the benefits of AI delivered through governance, auditability and human oversight. By bringing together AutoRek’s enterprise control capabilities with Grath’s AI innovation, customers gain more choice in how they deploy and more confidence in the controls that underpin it.”

The transaction also strengthens AutoRek’s international presence by adding Grath’s client base in the United States and the UAE. The expansion follows the opening of AutoRek’s Miami office earlier this year and the appointment of two senior regional sales leaders as the company continues to grow its international operations.

Grath CEO Matt Povey also added, “Financial services is at an inflection point. Institutions no longer want to choose between robust enterprise controls and the speed of AI-led innovation, and now they do not have to. Whether customers want a dedicated deployment, a SaaS solution live in hours, or embedded agentic infrastructure, they can now adopt any model within a single governed framework.”
