Klarna live on J.P. Morgan Payments in US

Klarna, the global digital bank and flexible payments provider, has switched on its first integration with J.P. Morgan Payments in the United States, giving merchants on the bank’s Commerce Platform access to Klarna’s flexible checkout options without needing to build their own integration.

The launch means retailers across sectors including apparel, travel and health and wellness can now present customers with Klarna’s full range of payment choices at checkout, covering pay in full, interest-free instalments and longer-term financing, using the infrastructure they already have in place through J.P. Morgan Payments.

Industry data cited in the announcement suggests that more than one in four Americans are more inclined to finish a purchase when flexible payment options are shown at checkout. The companies note that this kind of conversion boost had previously been difficult for smaller merchants to access, since many lacked the resources to manage complex payment integrations on their own.

J.P. Morgan Payments brings significant scale to the partnership, standing as the largest merchant acquirer in the US and handling $2.6tn in merchant payment transactions each year, according to the release.

Klarna operates as a global digital bank and flexible payments provider, serving more than 119 million active users worldwide and processing 3.4 million transactions daily through its AI-powered payments and commerce network.

Customers can use Klarna online, in-store, and via Apple Pay and Google Pay, while over one million retailers, among them Uber, H&M, Saks, Sephora, Macy’s, Ikea, Expedia Group, Nike and Airbnb, rely on its services to support growth and customer loyalty. The company is listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker KLAR.

Klarna chief commercial officer David Sykes said, “Going live with J.P. Morgan Payments marks the moment this collaboration moves from ambition to impact.

“J.P. Morgan Payments’ reach combined with Klarna’s conversion power is a genuine competitive advantage, and it’s now available to every merchant on their platform.”

Michael Lozanoff, global head of merchant services at J.P. Morgan Payments, said, “In talking with merchants every day, we know flexible payments drive conversion, but implementation can be a barrier. By bringing Klarna directly onto our Commerce Platform, we’re helping remove that barrier for businesses of every size. This is an example of the kind of integrations our merchants are seeking.”
