Hopae unlocks Mexico’s INE eID for instant verification

Hopae has expanded its Hopae Connect platform to support Mexico’s national INE identification system through a new QR-based verification capability. The launch takes Hopae Connect’s total coverage to more than 70 electronic identity documents worldwide, accessed through a single API.

The new INE QR eID Verification feature gives businesses operating in Mexico access to the country’s most widely used identity credential, opening verification to a population of 100m eligible adults and an addressable base of 80m users through secure QR code scanning.

The tool is built on INE’s newest and most secure credential generation, and it introduces cryptographic validation of the document itself, establishing what the company describes as a true root-of-trust check that goes beyond the limitations of photo-only or visual inspection methods.

The release is also designed with an eye on future regulatory developments, as it is built to remain compatible with Mexico’s forthcoming biometric CURP rollout. By providing deterministic proof of document authenticity, the feature aims to reduce fraud risk while streamlining onboarding, allowing for fast approvals without requiring additional steps from end users.

The company said the update lowers the overall cost of identity trust by replacing manual or photo-based document checks with an automated, instant verification process.

Hopae operates Hopae Connect, an API platform that consolidates identity verification across a wide range of global eIDs, giving businesses a single integration point to confirm the authenticity of customer documents. The company has been increasing its investment in Latin America as digital commerce and financial services adoption accelerate across the region, positioning Mexico as a priority market for expansion.

The new INE verification layer has been designed for flexible use, whether reinforcing existing regulated know-your-customer and anti-money-laundering workflows or serving non-regulated verification needs. It is also built to work alongside other identity tools already common in the market, including facial matching and liveness detection, rather than replacing them.
