FE fundinfo tackles fund data fragmentation with new tool

FE fundinfo, a fund data and technology company, has launched Product Mastering Core, a pre-configured data layer that gives investment managers a single, governed source of truth for fund, share class and registration data.

The new offering is designed to sit at the entry point of connected workflows within Nexus for Investment Managers, allowing firms to establish trusted product data as the foundation for everything built on top of it.

According to FE fundinfo, problems such as delayed fund launches, distribution mistakes and repeated reconciliation work are rarely caused by documents or regulatory filings themselves, but instead stem from fragmented product data, disjointed workflows and multiple conflicting versions of the truth held across spreadsheets, in-house tools and departmental systems that were never designed to work together.

Research from FE fundinfo’s Asset Managers Report 2026 underlines the scale of the issue: 65% of investment management leaders said this fragmentation limits their operational efficiency, while 69% said the speed and accuracy of fund data influences which managers distribution partners choose to work with. Consolidating vendors has become the industry’s second-highest investment priority, named by 33% of respondents. Product Mastering Core is intended to remove that fragmentation by giving firms one governed source for fund, share class and registration data.

The platform is built around an Openfunds-aligned data model spanning more than 600 market-ready fields covering umbrella, fund, share class and registration data, which can be extended with a firm’s own internal codes and operational attributes.

It also includes point-of-entry validation and pre-configured change-event automation that catch errors and flag related data inconsistencies before they reach downstream systems, alongside a full approval workflow and audit trail that records what changed, when, and who signed it off.

FE fundinfo says the solution can go live within days rather than months, with no implementation project required; new clients receive 10 hours of consultancy and training along with access to a knowledge base to help them get started, and the setup is designed to scale as a firm’s needs grow, avoiding the need to re-platform later.

Product Mastering Core has been built specifically for organisations adopting governed product data mastering for the first time, as well as those seeking a fast, pre-configured entry point rather than a full implementation project. It sits alongside Product Mastering, FE fundinfo’s existing configurable solution aimed at firms that require bespoke validation rules, workflow automation, or dynamic pricing and holdings data.

Once product and operations teams create, validate and approve fund, share class and registration data on the platform, that information flows automatically into connected Nexus for Investment Managers workflows, including document production, global funds registration, and data dissemination and distribution, removing the need for firms to build a separate integration for each process.

FE fundinfo head of asset management products Paul Poletti-Gadd said, “Most investment managers are still processing critical product information across spreadsheets and disconnected systems, which can slow launches and create inconsistencies. Product Mastering Core can be up and running in days rather than months, providing a trusted starting point for Nexus for Investment Managers.”

Valu-Trac Investment Management Limited head of investor disclosure Cameron Smith said, “With Product Mastering Core, we have one reliable source of fund data to work from. This improves consistency, significantly reduces manual effort, and gives us greater confidence in meeting our regulatory and reporting requirements.”
